About Belgorod

Belgorod is the administrative center of the Belgorod region (since 1954). It is situated 695 km south of Moscow. Belgorod is the city of the First Salute (August 5, 1943), the first city in Russia to receive the title of City of Military Glory (2007). It has good railway and air links with Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as with Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Samara, Tambov, Penza and Voronezh. It is located in the time zone, designated by international standard as Moscow Time Zone (MSK).

Belgorod is a city with developed infrastructure, it is a scientific and cultural centre. The city has 6 higher educational institutions, 5 museums, the Academic Drama Theatre, the State Philharmony, 7 cinemas. Belgorod has repeatedly become a winner in the competition for public amenities among Russian cities with populations from 100 to 500 thousand people.
